Technology firm Mozilla has showcased a smartphone prototype for developing countries, which could cost as less as $25 (about Rs 1,500).

The company, which runs the Firefox browser, has partnered with Chinese low-cost chip maker Spreadtrum. "In 2014, we are differentiating our user experience and our partners are growing the portfolio of devices. We are also enabling a whole new category of smartphone, priced around $25, that will bring even more people around the world online," Mozilla chief operating officer Jay Sullivan said. Firefox OS devices are the first devices built entirely to open Web standards, with every feature developed as an HTML5 application.

Samsung sought Monday to frame its new Galaxy S5 smartphone as a lifestyle product, as it emphasized a built-in heart-rate sensor and improved camera features over its slightly larger size.
One of the main appeals of Samsung phones has been their size. The screen has steadily increased since the 4-inches (10.2 cm) on the original S from 2010, while the iPhone made that jump to 4-inches only in 2012 and has stayed that way since.

But the S5 pushes the screen to only 5.1-inches (13 cm), measured diagonally, from 5-inches (12.7 cm) in last year's model. Instead of size, Samsung touted the new phone's ability to adapt its screen to changing external conditions and to dim it to avoid disturbing others nearby.

Motorola and Flipkart managed to create a lot of buzz and new customers with the Moto G launch in India last month. Now Motorola is gearing up to introduced the Moto X smartphone in India in coming few weeks. Motorola announced its plan to launch the Moto X in India via its Twitter account.
At the on-going Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain, the company has also hinted about a Moto X successor model in late summer this year.
The Moto X was launched August last year and features a 4.7-inch AMOLED touchscreen display with 1280x720 pixel resolution. This display has been made using Corning Gorilla Glass technology for providing it with strength and resistance against usual wear-tear. Motorola powered the Moto X with a 1.7 Ghz Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro MSM8960 dual-core processor, Adreno 320 GPU graphics and 2 GB RAM.
Even the Moto X does not offer a memory card slot but Motorola has been kind enough to give Moto X in 16 GB and 32 GB on-board storage options. At its rear rests a 10 megapixel camera with auto-focus and LED Flash. This camera is capable of recording full HD videos and also high quality still images with face detection, panorama and HDR.
Besides, the Motorola Moto X comes with dual-band WiFi support for faster mobile internet experience, Bluetooth 4.0 Low Energy, Near Field Communication Chip, GPS with A-GPS as well as GLONASS support and micro USB 2.0 with USB Host feature.
Motorola packs 2200 mAh battery and there is no confirmation if Moto X too will be introduced in dual-SIM version for India.

Nokia has modified the entire user interface to mimic Asha's Fastlane plus it has created a proprietary application store. There is also a dedicated SDK and porting tools, which basically will make all incompatible Android apps compatible for the platform. Those apps requiring Google Services or linking to such, will be redirected to their Nokia/Microsoft analogues.
So, now that all documentation and tools are out, Nokia wants developers to submit their apk files to the Nokia Store. Nokia claims a good 75% of all Android apps currently available require no modification, while the rest should undergo a little retouch. The porting process should not take more than 8 hours though, according to Nokia.
There is even a tool, which will determine if your app is compatible with Nokia X or not, so you don't have to worry about doing all the test process by yourself.

Google is planning to launch a new Nexus tablet, called Nexus 8, this July, according to a report of Androidgeeks. The website even quoted a Google employee saying that the company is planning to introduce new Android 4.5 version along with the tablet.
This means that Google will not introduce the new tablet and the operating system at its I/O 2014 developer conference which is to be held on June 25-26 this year.
