Aadu Oru Bheekara Jeeviyanu is meant to be a wacky, fun filled travel of a village tug-of-war team with their prize, a she-goat named Pinkie. But with a silly script peppered with some cheap comedy skits, this one turns out to be a dampener from the word go.
Shaji Paappan (Jayasurya) is the owner and manager of a tug of war team named Winners, Pothumukku based in an Idukki village. The team wins Rs. 22,222, a trophy and a goat in a local competition. But all hell breaks loose when Shaji Paappan realizes that they have been given a she goat. Paappan, by the way, hates women.
Now, this is an interesting premise for a comedy for sure. There are some funny moments here and there in the beginning, but after a while you realize how bad this film is. Characters start getting introduced just like that and sub plots get added in a desperate effort to get things going. And all you feel like is to wonder when the farce will come to an end. It takes real patience to sit through this horrible misadventure, which goes on and on, for more than 140 minutes!
Midhun, who had co-written last year?s superb rom-com Ohm Shaanthi Oshaana, adds vulgarity, buffoonery and mimicry to generate laughs. There is an effort to ridicule the veteran leader of a political party in Kerala, which sticks out like a sore thumb in this film, which has essentially fictitious characters. The producers can now hope that the political outfit creates some protests, so that the ensuing controversy can be made into a publicity stunt.
Vishnu Narayanan?s visuals and Shaan Rahman?s music are fine. Jayasurya looks good but repeats his peculiar style of diction, which he seems to have reserved for all his characters hailing from the high range areas. Vinayakan manages to earn some chuckles with his one-liners, while the rest of the cast competes in coming up with tasteless performances.
