Rasna girl Taruni Sachdev among dead in Nepal air crash

Child actor Taruni Sachdev who has acted in many commercials including the famous Rasna advertisement and her mother Geetha Sachdev are also among the dead.

Taruni has also acted in many films. She is known her for her role in Hindi film Paa. In Malayalam, she has appeared in films Vellinakshatram and Sathyam.

She is well-known for featuring along with Karisma Kapoor in the Rasna commercial saying 'I Love Love You Rasna'.

Thirteen Indian pilgrims were among 15 persons killed on Monday when a small plane with 21 people on board crashed in northern Nepal after hitting a hill top while attempting to land at a high-altitude airport.

Six others, including three Indians and two Danish nationals, miraculously survived the crash of the Dornier 9N AIG aircraft belonging to the private carrier Agni Air. The accident came nearly eight months after 10 Indians perished in an air disaster near here.

The plane, which flew from the resort town of Pokhara on its way to Jomsom, crashed at 9.30am local time while landing at the mountain airstrip, said an official at Tribhuvan International Airport.

The passengers had chartered the flight to take them from the central tourist hub of Pokhara to Muktinath, a famous Hindu pilgrimage centre in Jomsom near the Tibetan border at the foot of the Thorong La Himalayan mountain pass, the official said.

An official said rescuers had so far recovered nine bodies from the wreckage. Three Indians including two children, a Nepalese air hostess and two Danes have been rescued alive from the crash site.

The injured were taken to a hospital in Pokhara and the three Indians who survived were out of danger, officials said.

35 crores in cash found at home of Chiranjeevi's daughter

Hyderabad: Cartons stuffed with Rs. 35 crore in cash were found at the Chennai residence of actor-politician Chiranjeevi's daughter, Sushmita.

The Income Tax department raided the house on Friday and Saturday. Today, officials confirmed that "Cash was found neatly packed in 35 carton boxes with each containing Rs. 1 crore in denominations of Rs. 500 and Rs. 1000."

The money has been handed over to the Reserve Bank of India today.

Nepal plane crash: 13 Indians killed

Kathmandu: A small plane owned by a private company crashed in northwest Nepal on Monday, killing 15 people including 13 Indians, an official said.

The Dornier aircraft owned by private Agni Air company was carrying 18 passengers and a crew of three on a flight from the resort town of Pokhara to Jomsom when it crashed while landing at the mountain airstrip.

"Among those killed are 13 Indians and two Nepalis," Kathmandu airport official Mahesh Shrestha said.

Six survivors had been taken to a hospital in Pokhara and the condition of at least one of them is critical, he said.

Two Danish tourists were among those rescued.

Jomsom, about 125 km (79 miles) northwest of Kathmandu, is a gateway for trekking in the region where Mount Annapurna, the world's 10th highest mountain, is located.

In September last year, 19 people returning after viewing Mount Everest were killed when their plane crashed in bad weather near Kathmandu.

It was not immediately clear what caused Monday's crash.

Nepal is home to eight of the world's 14 highest mountain peaks, including Mount Everest.

Tens of thousands of hikers and foreign tourists go to Mount Everest and other trekking routes to see the lofty Himalayan peaks every year.

Tourism, a key source of earning for impoverished Nepal, accounts for nearly four percent of the gross domestic product and employs tens of thousands of people.

Sick Malaysian mother beating up 8 month old baby!

A sick woman violently hits the wailing baby girl with a pillow, pinches her arms and thighs and kicks the crying child, who lies screaming on a mattress.
The beatings intensify when the baby refuses to remain quiet and cries louder, crawling towards the woman. At one point, the woman throws her mobile phone at the child.
The voice of another woman, assumed to be the person recording the incident, can be heard in the four-minute long video as well.
While she admonishes the woman who is beating up the child, she does nothing to stop the abuse. At around, the 2 minute 20 second mark, she is heard telling the woman who is hitting the baby that she is going to kill the child.

The woman was charged and found guilty under the Child Act 2001 is now serving an 18-month sentence..

Couple in UP Arrested for Trying to Bury their 45-day-old Girl Alive

Pilakhuwa, Uttar Pradesh: The parents of a one and a half month old baby girl have been arrested for trying to bury their child alive in a graveyard. The incident happened in UP's Pilakhuwa town which is located just 100 kilometres from the national capital.

The incident came to light on Wednesday, when one if the trustees who was at the burial ground heard a baby cry and figured something amiss. He then alerted the police who arrested 35-year-old Bharati Rani and her husband Dinesh Kumar. Also arrested is Dinesh's brother who was with the couple at the burial ground.

Bharati has reportedly told the police she was burying the child on the advice of a godman after he told her that this would protect the rest of her children from serious illnesses in the future. The couple had allegedly lost a child to an incurable illness last year. So on Wednesday, the three reached the burial ground with the baby who was saved by the alert trustee.

The police however have not been able to trace the godman yet.

While most of his friends enjoy a spot of cricket, ten-year-old Manpreet Singh loves nothing more than sitting back and having a coconut cracked on his forehead with a baseball bat.
He also laughs in the face of a terrifying stunt which could leave him blind as fluorescent light tubes are smashed across his chest, sending shards of glass flying into his eyes.
Manpreet could well be the toughest boy his age after becoming the world's youngest master of an obscure Indian martial art called Gatka.

He is a member of a Sikh martial arts group which performs extreme stunts including being run over by cars and training with swords and spiked maces.
After rushing home from school each day, Manpreet practices his martial art with dedication - although he does still find some time to play cricket and cycle.
Manpreet's uncle, Kamaljeet Singh, is the leader of the Bir Khalsa Sikh Martial Arts Group in the Punjabi city of Amritsar.

Mr Singh says he is happy to let the children play with daggers and swords as he claims it is not dangerous if they are properly trained.
As for Manpreet, he says his coconut-smashing feat is by far his favourite.
Gatka is a style of stick fighting associated with the Punjab region passed down from generation to generation which only Sikhs are allowed to perform.

The discipline, used successfully by the Sikhs throughout the 16th and 17th centuries in battles against the Mughal forces, is based on the correct use of a vast array of hand-to-hand weapons.
Most gatka groups train in a religious or semi-religious situation, such as in a gurdwara (a Sikh place of worship) or in a Sikh cultural centre or school.
It is considered to be spiritual as well as a physical exercise.
